Doctor Ho Limited provides online courses for parental learners and healthcare professionals.

 

Our courses for parental learners are designed to support parents’ learning about well infant and child development. The goal of these courses is to improve learners’ awareness and knowledge on general development of well infants and children. 

We offer the following livestream online interactive courses so that you can join our courses and discussion in virtual online meetings:

Courses:

Course 1: Infant development milestones (0-3 months)

Overview:

These courses will introduce and discuss the developmental milestones of healthy infants of different age groups.

 

General topics and course structure:

1. Introduction.

2. The important roles of the brain in infant development.

3. Concepts of child development (including normal age range of development vs. milestones; variables vs. constants)

4. Normal development and important developmental milestones of healthy infants in four main areas:

  • Posture and large movement (i.e. Gross motor);

  • Vision and fine movement (i.e. Fine motor);

  • Hearing and speech;

  • Social behaviour and play.

5. Important factors affecting developmental milestones.

6. Some important red flags.

7. Further discussion and questions.

 

Course duration:

 

Each course will last approximately 1 hour 50 mins.

In additional to developmental courses, we occasionally run short courses to discuss generally and certain health conditions in which babies can experience. The goal of these courses is to provide general information and raise parental awareness.

 

Course 4: Introduction to Neonatal Jaundice​

 

Overview: In this short course, we will introduce and discuss generally neonatal jaundice. The goal of this course is to provide general information about neonatal jaundice and raise parental awareness.

 

Topics and course structure:

 

1.   What’s neonatal jaundice, its causes and epidemiology;

 

2.   How’s neonatal jaundice detected and diagnosed;

 

3.   How’s neonatal jaundice treated;

 

4.   What are the prognosis and potential complications of neonatal jaundice;

 

5.   Q&A.​

 

Course duration:1 hours 30 mins (including a 10 mins break).

Course 5: First aid in children

 

Overview: This course aims to provide useful and practical information about first aid in children (older than 3 months of age) to parents/ learners in a relaxing session.

 

Available online or in-person where possible (currently restricted to London tube zone 1 to 3 areas).

 

Topics include:

  1. Safety approach and initial assessment

  2. CPR

  3. Choking children

  4. Febrile convulsion (or febrile seizure)

  5. The recovery position

 

By the end of this course, learners should be more familiar:

  1. How to approach and assess an injured child.

  2. How CPR is performed in children.

  3. How to respond to a choking child.

  4. How to respond to a child with febrile convulsion.

  5. How to place a child in the recovery position.

 

Please note that this is not a certified course and does not involve any formal training to deliver professional paediatric resuscitation.

 

Course duration: 2 hours.

 

Course fee: £65/ person (min. 2 people, max. 10 people per booking)
